Bouncing Floors Crawlspace repair in Mechanicsville MD
Challenge
A customer rang up, expressing worry about their home's drooping floors. They described areas in the six-foot-wide opening where the floor seemed to have "bouncing spots." They mentioned that a different company had encapsulated and attempted to repair the crawlspace around four years ago, but unfortunately, this action didn't resolve their issue.
Our technical advisor met with the homeowner and performed an extensive inspection of the house, starting from the foundation. The findings revealed that four x fours were supporting the steel jacks without any beams, two by two's were bridging the gaps between the floors and the cinderblock piers, and there were broken PVC pipes present.
Solution
To rectify the homeowner's problem, we undertook a comprehensive approach. We installed four supplemental beams and fifteen smart jacks to provide additional support and stability to the sagging floors. Instead of the previously used wood shims, we opted for steel shims that are 6 inches wide, offering increased durability and resistance. To tackle the water issue, we incorporated a SaniDry Sedona system along with a smart pump liner. This strategy was implemented in addition to the measures taken by the previous company to ensure complete resolution of the problem. The customer expressed satisfaction with our service, as they now have even floors devoid of any bounce.
